Hi Blaze, please tell us a little bit about yourself for those who dont know you yet 🙂
I am 15 years old living in Durban in South Africa, I am a motorcycle racer in my 4th year of racing with a dream of getting into world level racing.
How you got into racing?
My dad has been a motorcycle mechanic for many years for teams and in 2009 I went to one race to watch. The father of the rider who my dad was working for said to me ‘Blaze, would you like to race a motorcycle?’ Without any thought I said yes and the next weekend I was riding a TZR50cc at a local short circuit. And here I am today loving it more than ever!
Tell us about your current bike!
This year I am racing a Kawasaki Zx6R in the South African Supersport championship.
What were your best and worst moments this season?
My best moment was when I won for the fist time in I big battle with five of us and I was fourth going into the 2nd last corner. My worst moment has to be my one and only crash of the season when I was lying in 2nd position on the last lap.
You’re only 15 now. How did you combine your study with your busy racing schedule?
That is a mission. I have to get permission from my school to take leave for all the races but I usually take work with me and do some of it on the flight or road trip. Teachers email me the work as well and I can do it on my laptop.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I plan to get into Moto2 as my dream is to get into the MotoGP paddock
Who is your lifetime hero?
That is a tough one.. I have followed Marquez since he first started 125cc but I I’m going to stick with Valentino Rossi
If you woke up tomorrow as Valentino Rossi, what will you do?
Climb on the M1 Yamaha and do hundreds of laps on it.
Women or bikes?
Most defiantly bikes !
Who is your current girlfriend?
Not a human girlfriend 😉 I am in a lifetime relationship with my bike ‘Jamie’
Who’s gonna win 2013 MotoGP title?
Marc Marquez, he has really stood out this season I hope he wins it. He deserves it.
Thanks Blaze. Best of luck for your racing career.
